The Ides of March will quickly be here. Rather than an assassination of a major political leader, the staff here at Historic St. Luke’s predicts our “torrent” will come in the form of gift shop and tour visitors and wedding and special event guests to Virginia’s Oldest Church. After many months of planning and ramping-up marketing efforts we are starting to see the dividends to our efforts.
Easter at HSL
During this Easter Season we welcome you to attend our two special church services:
7 p.m. on March 25th Good Friday Service with Hope Presbyterian Church
6:30 a.m. on March 27th Easter Sunrise Service with Uzzell & Benn’s UMC
Both services allow you to celebrate the reason for the season at the Old Brick Church. We hope to see you among the celebrants!
Education Program Events
Our first educational program of the 2016 Calendar of Events was a huge success! Tony Williams’ “Washington and Hamilton” presentation on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 had a sold-out audience followed by Tony speaking with and autographing for and selling his books to attendees. Following the program many attendees enjoyed a complimentary guided tour of the church by education coordinator John Ericson.
Be sure and reserve your spot to attend our second education program Saturday, April 9th, 2016 “The Early African American Religious Symposium” between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. This program will have two acclaimed professors from Norfolk State University presenting accompanied by a mid-session boxed-lunch. Seating is limited. $25.00 per person. Register today by calling Historic St. Luke’s. Click Here to learn more about the event.
Lastly but not least we wish to welcome either new or renewing members to our community. Thank you for your support and hope you take advantage of your valuable membership benefits:
Mr. and Mrs. Kuncken
Mr. and Mrs. LaBoone
Dr. and Mrs. Hinson
Mr. and Mrs. Mittelmaier
Mr. and Mrs. Krause
Mr. and Mrs. Gwaltney
We have a lot in store for April so stay tuned for more announcements and great events!
