Historic St. Luke’s Welcomes Intern Kristy Holloway

Intern Kristie Holloway

Intern Kristy Holloway, (NSU)

Historic St. Luke’s  is proud to welcome aboard intern Kristy Holloway. Kristy comes from Isle of Wight County, Virginia and attends Norfolk State University as a history major studying under advisor Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander. Dr. Newby-Alexander was last seen at HSL in April 2016 when she presented on the early African American religious experience.

Dr. Newby-Alexander has become a great supporter of Virginia’s Oldest Church and recently introduced us to Holloway. Holloway’s internship and research is focused on the Colonial African American religious experience in Tidewater Virginia.  Since age 14 Holloway has lived in Isle of Wight and has deep family roots in the community.

“My goal for my internship is to bring a new, diverse portion of tour material to Historic St. Luke’s that shows the struggles and triumphs of African American religious heritage” says Holloway.  We are proud to have her part of our Education Department and look forward to her report following the conclusion of her internship at the end of June 2016.  Please help us in welcoming Kristy aboard our team.
