Wow! Last month we had a great Restoration Day on Saturday, May 14th. We hope you were able to make it out for the day’s events. Next year in 2017 will be our 60th Anniversary of the 1957 completion of the church building restoration. We hope to make the event even better! Unfortunately due to poor weather we had to cancel our Civil War Living History weekend. We had so much in store for that weekend we look forward to holding another Civil War Living History weekend in early-2017. Stay tuned for more information. On Saturday, June 4th we held another of our Symposium Series – the 17th and 18th-centuries of the British Atlantic presented by Dr. Amanda Herbert. It was received with great enthusiasm by the highly-engaged audience.
Our grounds continue to blossom through all of the efforts of our landscape crew. When you see them out and about, please thank them for all of the hard work they do every week to keep this 100-acre historic site gorgeous for all to enjoy. They are weeding and seeding along with everything else they do.
June will also see some of our team working outside on the buildings and inside on the artifacts. This is the time of year you may see me wearing work clothes in efforts to help maintain our precious buildings and artifacts. We have need of volunteers to aid in many of our projects. If you are interested and available, please let us know. We really appreciate all of your help.
