Thank you to our donors for making the Annual Fund holiday letter campaign so successful! Because of partners like you, our National Landmark is OPEN DAILY for educational tours; we offer special events and lectures; and our 100-acre grounds,17th-century church building, and administrative building are maintained. But we always need additional support. Stayed tuned next month for some exciting news regarding new levels of membership here at Virginia’s Oldest Church. In the meantime, if you would like to make a charitable gift to Historic St. Luke’s, please visit historicstlukes.org/donate.
Special thanks to staff member and volunteer Gloria LaBoone for her generous donation which allowed us to refinish the floors of our 1950s admin building, and still have a bit of money left over for painting the office walls. Our gratitude extends to Smithfield True Value for supplying the paint at a discount.
Historic St. Luke’s has been the recipient of two grants recently:
- The Jessie Ball duPont Fund awarded a $4,000 technology grant for three refurbished laptops (employees were previously using personal computers) and part of our new donor management software.
- The Titmus Foundation awarded us $2,500 for a new educational program, which will introduce archaeology to local school students.
- Restoration Day will be held on May 20 and includes daytime educational activities on the grounds, all themed around the 1950s and restoration of the church, as well as an afternoon donor and member reception. Sponsorships levels are $250, $500, and $1000, with complimentary tickets to the event as well as a sponsor table at the highest level.
- Picnic Day will be held June 10, in conjunction with National Get Outdoors Day. Attendees are invited to bring a picnic lunch onto our historic grounds and enjoy various outdoor games and activities. Other local non-profits will be in attendance to add to the event with exercise classes and demonstrations. Sponsorships for this event are $250.
